BIPOC
Being Latina, having lived in Hawaii, and practicing therapy in the South Side of Chicago, Amalia understands that a person of another ethnicity/race/culture can never be an expert of another person’s experience. That said, Amalia is well versed in the nuances of microaggressions, colorism, and other universal trials and tribulations that folks of BIPOC communities face.
LGBTQ
Amalia is a proud queer woman. That said, she is very aware of her cis and straight passing privilege. Amalia has taken several trainings in Trans experiences, and trainings of the intersecting experience of being Queer and African American. Amalia understands that both sexuality and gender identity are a spectrum, not a binary.
Kink
Sex positivity is very important to Amalia. Amalia has a deep understanding of the role consent in Kink relationships plays, as well as the very special bond that is shared between people in Kink relationships. Amalia holds a judgement free space for folks in the kink community and celebrates the joy that comes from sex positivity.
Sex Worker
Amalia understands that sex work is work. Just as with any other profession, Amalia will treat the stressors of your job with respect and give you the tools to navigate said stress. Amalia will not focus on your profession if you wish to discuss other topics and will never attempt to “save you” from your profession. It bears repeating, sex work is work.
ethically non-monogamous populations
From Polyamory, to swingers, Amalia is versed in the different facets of ethically non-monogamous relationships. Amalia celebrates people’s varying romantic orientations and holds a safe space in a society that has not accepted folks living their authentic lives in the open.
